The technology of using light energy in dentistry primarily includes lasers that allow precision, minimal operation, and less pain in interventions. For instance:

Benefits of New Technologies in Dental Implants

These are just some of the ways in which these technologies are changing the science of dentistry and offering significant benefits to both doctors and patients. Through these technological advancements, the goal is to improve quality and make medical treatments more precise, safe, and comfortable for everyone.

Thanks to the technological and digital revolution in recent years, the use of laser energy in dental implants has led micro-surgical treatment to the forefront of technology. Computerized dental implantation with laser, combined with a treatment microscope, is defined as minimally invasive surgical treatment.

This method accelerates the healing process after implantation with less pain and swelling compared to traditional invasive treatments, which involve many complications and risks, such as prolonged recovery, pain, hematoma, and risk of infections requiring antibiotics, especially in patients with systemic issues.

The Future is Here: 3D Dental Implantation Leading the Change

Computerized and pre-planned dental implantation represents a real revolution compared to traditional methods. It's an innovative approach that provides capabilities we couldn't imagine in the past.

3D dental implantation uses advanced computerized technologies and artificial intelligence to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the implantation process. During 3D planning, we use dedicated software that provides 3D imaging of the oral cavity. The technology includes intraoral scanning, performed on the inner part of the mouth, and CBCT scanning, which is essentially a high-resolution 3D CT scan.

Precise Pre-Treatment Planning: Before treatment begins, detailed and precise planning is done with computer assistance. This process includes planning tooth extractions, implant placement, bone implantation (when required), and planning the entire rehabilitation process.
With the help of artificial intelligence tools, precise and detailed planning can be performed, leading to significant improvement in clinical results. The use of a surgical guide and a rehabilitative guide, manufactured according to computerized planning, allows the doctor to position the implants perfectly and without deviations.

Benefits of Computerized Technology

Unlike old methods, which were mainly based on the doctor's skills and assessments in real-time, the computerized method offers detailed 3D models that present the oral cavity and jaws accurately. This allows for calculated planning before starting the implantation, including the ideal placement of implants, structure angles, and aesthetic rehabilitation.

Improvement in Success Rates and Treatment Quality

The careful planning and controlled process significantly improve the success rates of treatments. This technology adds to the quality and transparency of the treatment and provides patients with a sense of confidence and calm that every step in the process has been planned and executed with the utmost precision.

At Savion Medical Center, we are committed to staying updated with all technological innovations and providing you with the most advanced treatment. 3D and computerized technology improves every aspect of dental implantation, from surgical precision to aesthetic and functional results. Benefits of Computerized Dental Implantation

There are several key benefits to computerized dental implantation:

Microscopic Laser Therapy in Oral Implantology

Dr. Ariel Savion has specialized in developing advanced protocols in the field of implantology that combine several different disciplines. His guiding principle, "less is more," reflects the approach of precise planning and complete control to encourage a smooth and safe transition to implant placement. Based on this concept, Dr. Savion aims to advance medical treatment while emphasizing high-quality service and results.

The combination of advance planning capability, maximum precision, and complete control ensures more successful procedures and reduces invasiveness risks.
Through the use of advanced technologies and laser energy (Dr. Savion's protocol), patients are encouraged to undergo implant procedures through less invasive processes, all aimed at improving the patients' rehabilitation and quality of life, with precise and meticulous execution.

The use of microscopes in implantology provides significant and important advantages, as detailed here:

1. Precision and Control Advantage

Using a microscope with magnification power of up to 39x allows the dentist to see the treatment area, extraction site, and implantation in the most comprehensive and precise manner. This provides complete control over small details and ensures accurate and quality results.

2. Surgical Approach Advantage

The microscopic approach allows the physician to perform complex treatments without staying too close to the patients' open mouths. This allows for maintaining distance from patients during treatment and improves hygiene and patient safety.

3. Maximum Comfort and Treatment Quality

Working with a microscope provides the physician with maximum work comfort, which improves the quality of execution and treatment quality, and helps ensure there is no close exposure to patients.

Overall, by incorporating the treatment microscope, Dr. Savion performs treatments in a more advanced, precise, and professional manner without compromising the safety and quality of patient care.

The treatment microscope in implantology (dental implant placements) at "Savion Medical Center" means surgical treatment combined with a medical-grade microscope that allows working at different magnifications (magnification range up to 39x) during surgery for complete control of small details, with enormous advantages over treatment with magnifying glasses alone (magnification range up to 6x).

The use of microscopes provides several important advantages, and it's worth knowing that many dentists in the country are not proficient in using them, have not acquired the appropriate training, and therefore do not work with microscopes. At Savion Medical Center, it is a central and essential working tool.

This is our approach, and Dr. Savion explains the importance of working under a treatment microscope:

  • Using a magnifying microscope, equipped with a double LED light, allows the dentist to see the treatment area, the extraction site, and the implantation area with magnification of up to 39x.
  • Among all common magnification devices, this is considered the most precise. For example, magnifying glasses that some dentists use allow magnification of up to only ten times. This sounds reasonable, but such magnification cannot approach that of the microscope (again, 39x).
  • The use of the microscope and the micro-surgical approach allows the physician to perform the treatment without getting too close to the patients, keeping in ming that their mouths are wide open during treatment. Naturally, in this way, when the doctor can maintain some distance, the chance of exposing patients to bacteria is significantly reduced (and this is of course in combination with other precautions, such as sterilization, use of medical masks, and so on).
  • A doctor proficient in working with the microscope enjoys maximum comfort. Therefore, patients enjoy optimal treatment quality, because when the doctor is comfortable, the quality of execution and quality of treatments are particularly high.

Therapeutic Microscope + Light Energy = Dental Implants at the Highest and Most Precise Level

The synergistic combination of light energy and a therapeutic microscope with enhanced magnification capabilities adds an exceptionally high level of precision to computerized dental implantation. Light energy is not just the light emitted from the microscope.

It is, in fact, advanced laser technology, which brings important advantages to the implantation process, including disinfection of the treatment site and accelerated healing. The microscope allows the doctor to view the entire implant site in magnification, enabling precise execution with minimally invasive tools.

Studies have shown that disinfecting laser energy has a noteworthy ability to reduce possible infections and stimulate accelerated healing by encouraging natural healing processes. Thus, in combination with the magnification and illumination provided by the therapeutic microscope, the physician controls the process comprehensively and completes the process from beginning to end with unparalleled precision.

The microscope allows for a view of the implant site being treated and of the adjacent teeth. The entire jaw area and gums are not only magnified, but also enable the dentist to maintain a proper distance from the patient's mouth (a fact that adds sterility to the treatment). The result is treatment quality at a different level, because the future is actually already here.

How is Computerized Dental Implantation Performed?

Computerized dental implantation proceeds in the following stages:

איסוף נתונים וצילומי CBCT

Image Description from Left to Right: Occlusal, coronal, and sagittal views of a CBCT scan. The size of the lesion and bone defect can be observed.

The first stage in the computerized dental implant process is the data collection stage.

This is a comprehensive stage designed to plan the treatment, during which the condition of the teeth, gums, and jawbone is thoroughly examined. Quality studio photographs allow the doctor to precisely identify the condition of the patient's mouth and smile, while defining the desired outcome of the treatment.

An intraoral scan (of the inside of the mouth) is performed using digital technology to obtain an accurate 3D model of the patient's mouth. In this way, it is possible to delve into the tooth structure, the alignment nature of the bite, and the structure of tissues adjacent to the treatment site.

One of the most important tools in terms of data collection is the use of CT imaging of the CBCT type. CBCT scans provide highly detailed 3D images of the jawbone, teeth, and adjacent structures in the mouth. This technology is far superior to traditional CT scanning, as it provides very high-resolution images with significantly lower radiation exposure.

CBCT scans allow identification of jawbone quality and density, precise location of nerves and sinuses, and identification of possible pathologies (problems, diseases) that could affect the ideal position of the future implant. These detailed data allow for the preparation of a tailored, precise treatment plan with a micro-surgical (minimally invasive) approach, guaranteeing optimal results.

After comprehensive data collection and advanced CBCT imaging, the results are carefully analyzed to devise an accurate and personalized treatment plan. The scans and images from the previous stage are combined using advanced software to produce a complete digital representation of the oral anatomy of the treated mouth.

A virtual model from an intraoral scan allows for full detailing of the jawbone structure, nerve locations, sinus locations, and any potential anatomical challenge that may affect implant placement.

Using innovative computer-based technology, we perform a complete simulation of the entire implantation process, from beginning to end. From the initial surgical stage to the final implant adjustment.

This comprehensive planning ensures that implants will be placed in the optimal location, taking into account the unique oral anatomy of the patient, according to bone density and the desired and requested aesthetic result. The ability to consider data such as proximity to nerves, sinus position, and jawbone structure allows for creating an optimal treatment plan.

Blood collection from the patient for the preparation of platelet-rich fibrin for faster healing (biological concept).

One of the advanced techniques we use to enable maximum natural healing while reducing the use of antibiotics is the preparation of PRF membranes (layers) of fibrin.

These are fibrin-rich platelet membranes that are 100% natural material, collected from the patient's own body. The material is produced by placing a tube with the patient's blood into a centrifuge. This process concentrates the blood platelets, growth factors, and other beneficial components found in the blood, resulting in a natural, concentrated component for powerful healing.

Before beginning the surgical stage, there are situations where patients need bone augmentation to ensure optimal and stable anchoring between the jaw and the implant. This is important, for example, when patients suffer from bone loss and resorption due to an extraction performed long ago, due to gum disease, or other factors. The quality and density of the jawbone are extremely important for maintaining complete stability of the implant for years to come and even for a lifetime.

There are different sources of bone grafts:

  • Sourced from the patient themselves.
  • Sourced from another human donor.
  • Sourced from animals, such as cow or pig bones.
  • Synthetic source, i.e. non-biological.

At "Savion Medical Center," we typically use the highest quality bone source—bone from a human source (each bone type has its characteristics) that we purchase from an American company that is actually a leading global tissue bank. This ensures that the purchased bone is tested under stringent conditions and treated thoroughly and meticulously to prevent the risk of infection (either due to genetic material in the bone or the presence of bacteria).

By using bone available to us without the need for massive harvesting from the patient's bone, and in combination with platelet-rich fibrin drawn from the patient's vein, we can encourage faster healing and good regeneration of new natural bone to support the implant.

To further improve the bone regeneration process, we also incorporate growth factors and white blood cells at the implantation site. Such biological components stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms, encouraging rapid integration of the new bone with the patient's natural jawbone. This is our way to significantly improve the stability of the implant, with the goal of achieving bone replacement to create natural bone in the implantation area, throughout the patient's life.

Before placing new implants, it is necessary to extract existing non-salvageable teeth. The extraction process is a stage that is performed at Savion Medical Center with special care. Dr. Savion performs each extraction with maximum caution and precision, with a gentle hand like that of an artist no less than that of a doctor. Dr. Savion explains that traumatic extraction can cause unnecessary damage to the surrounding bone and soft tissues. Traumatic extraction can adversely affect healing and future implant stability.

To ensure the extraction is not traumatic, Dr. Savion uses a special technique including the use of a surgical knife from the field of ophthalmology. This delicate instrument allows for precise extraction, with the tooth being easily removed with minimal contact and damage to adjacent structures, bone, and gums. By carefully separating the tooth from the gums and bone, Dr. Savion can gently extract the tooth while preserving a maximum amount of healthy bone and soft tissue.

This approach provides several significant benefits for our patients:

  • Reduced pain, swelling, and discomfort after surgery, leading to a more comfortable recovery process.
  • Preservation of the natural contours of the jawbone and gum tissue, creating a more comfortable area for dental implant placement.
  • Trauma-free extraction encourages faster healing and improved osseointegration (this is the process of fusion between the implant and the surrounding bone).

עקירה אטראומטית תחת מיקרוסקופ טיפולי

After the extraction process, we perform 3D scanning and imaging. This way, we can get a "status picture," view the jawbone, soft tissues, and adjacent structures to ensure that the rest of the treatment process can be carried out according to plan or whether certain changes need to be made. The post-extraction 3D scanning and imaging allow us to continue the treatment in the most precise and appropriate manner for the patient before us.

Microsurgical Laser Therapy

Computerized dental implantation with light energy carefully utilizes the enormous advantages of laser energy to improve several aspects. The method advocated by Dr. Savion allows for disinfection of the extraction area during treatment as well as significantly reducing bleeding. This approach, used by only a few practitioners in Israel and worldwide besides Dr. Savion, provides our patients with many important benefits worth knowing:

  • Selective and precise removal of diseased tissues – The goal in MLT is to remove only the infected tissues, without damaging adjacent tissues during extraction and before implantation. We achieve this through precise and controlled use of laser energy.
  • Antibacterial action – The laser in MLT treatments helps with local disinfection, which means a dramatic reduction in the chances of post-implantation infection.
  • Easier treatment and recovery – MLT allows us to provide the gentlest treatment, yet also the most effective. The result is minimal pain alongside incomparably faster recovery times.
  • Minimum anesthesia – The microsurgical nature of MLT allows for minimal use of anesthetic materials, which translates into a very safe procedure and much easier and faster recovery.
  • We note that as part of our philosophy, the combination of laser, fibrin, and the highest quality membranes allows the body to recover more easily and natural healing processes are maximized.

פרוטוקול טיפול MLT

A surgical guide template is a highly useful tool in dental implantation. The template is an assistive device that helps ensure the placement of implants in the most precise location according to the treatment plan and the computerized imaging produced in previous stages. It is important for us to clarify that the guide (which you can see here in pictures and also in the accompanying video) is a personalized device, built using data collected in scans and 3D imaging.

The surgical guide template fulfills several valuable roles:

  • Position determination –The guide helps identify the optimal location for each implant, taking into account factors such as bone density, nerve location, and aesthetic considerations.
  • Setting the implantation angle – The guide ensures the insertion of implants at the correct angle, a very important component to achieve a stable result. This results in a stable implant that is positioned in the most correct and aesthetic manner.
  • Control over implantation depth – The guide can assist in positioning the depth of the implants so that they are placed in the ideal location within the jawbone.
  • Real-time precision aid – During implantation, the implants are inserted through the guide positioned in the mouth. The guide serves as a physical reference point, preventing any deviation, preventing any mistakes, and ensuring that the implants are positioned exactly as planned in real-time.

Wet, hydrophilic implants provide several prominent and dramatic advantages during healing, recovery, and even in the expected lifespan of the implants.

  • First, the use of these implants helps accelerate the process of osseointegration (healing and building of bone around the implant).
  • The wet implant comes in a moist, wet package and is able to absorb the patient's blood onto its surface more easily.
  • During treatment, blood adheres to the screw structure of the implant, in a way that is beneficial for fast and good healing. Scientifically, what happens is that the implant surface remains moist and creates faster and better fusion with the bone (new bone cells are formed more quickly). This type of implant attracts more blood cells, more stem cells, and even immune system cells.
  • When performing the procedure correctly and using hydrophilic implants, you get a strong, durable implant that gives a natural feeling that can serve patients for life.
  • The implant of this type is connected in a unique way to the structure (tooth crown), in a way that allows for exceptional durability. This is in contrast to regular implants, which tend to break down more over time.

השתלת שתלים הידרופיליים (רטובים)

In the stage of hard and soft tissue renewal, we use an Ossix type membrane.

Powered by GLYMATRIX® Technology — What is important to know:

This is a technology of creating collagen bonds, similar to the natural process that occurs naturally in our bodies (called glycation). It is a clinically proven technology that uses sugars to cross-link collagen molecules and thus create a membrane structure in the form of a collagen matrix. This structure is biologically adaptable and can be adjusted to provide solutions with desired physical properties that last over time.

This is a unique membrane that serves as a barrier to mixing between epithelial cells and bone granules. It is a sugar cross-linked collagen membrane that is absorbed over time (after half a year). In other words, there is no need for an additional treatment stage to remove the membrane. The membrane streamlines healing and assists in building bone around the implant.

After inserting the membrane, comes the moment when bone can be inserted in a way that fills the "holes" where teeth were extracted. Afterward, fibrin is inserted, which is designed to support faster healing. Dr. Savion carefully takes the pre-prepared mixture of bone and PRF, which comes in a flexible fibrous texture. This mixture serves as a substrate that stimulates new bone growth.

Using the microsurgical instruments that Dr. Savion uses, the cavities are filled and then the fibrin sheets are added, using the microsurgical method.

At this point, we will mention that the microsurgical approach and the use of a microscope with 39x magnification allow for precise implantation, action without unnecessary trauma to tissues, improved integration of the implant with the bone, improved safety, precise work, and much faster healing than is conventional.

Now, in the final stage of the surgery, it is already possible to install the individual crowns, one by one. This involves loading the screwed crowns, all without stitches and without incisions. As Dr. Savion explains, it is really possible to go home with a natural-looking smile, even when dealing with a very complex treatment, as evidenced by the implantation Dr. Savion performed for a patient who had already undergone implantations in the past and suffered from loose teeth, teeth that could not be saved and had to be extracted, bone resorption, and additional problems.
And all's well that ends well, the satisfied patient returns home with a big smile. For you or your family member, Dr. Savion will provide the treatment with the same dedication, professionalism, and advanced methods that combine laser, microscope, fibrin, and growth factors that help the body heal itself.

Key Differences Between Computerized Dental Implantation and Other Dental Implantation Methods

As mentioned, computerized dental implantation represents a noteworthy technological and medical advancement. And now we will present some of the key differences compared to other implantation methods:

Computerized Dental Implantation

Regular Method Dental Implantation

Procedure planning utilizes 3D imaging, computer simulations, and model production before the implantation day.

Procedure planning relies on two-dimensional imaging and the dentist's judgment at the time of implantation.

Surgical precision is very good, thanks to the assistance of computerized imaging and preparation for implantation according to the patient's jaw model.

Surgical precision during implantation depends on the dentist's skill level and ability to make immediate assessments based on visual inspection.

The time required for implantation is shorter, thanks to meticulous preparation in advance and knowing how and where to position the implants.

The time required for implantation is longer as the dentist makes real-time decisions with less advance preparation.

Healing time is usually shorter, as the implantation is less invasive and more precise.

Expected healing time is usually longer due to contact with more tissues around the implant.

The risk level for complications is lower, due to precision in implant positioning and the dentist's advance preparation.

The risk level for complications is considered higher.

Questions and answers

Computerized dental implant treatment is particularly suitable and beneficial for patients for whom there is paramount importance in predetermining the exact location for the implant, due to complex anatomical structure or when there is limited jawbone (for example, due to bone resorption).

Additionally, this method is especially beneficial for patients for whom many significant decisions must be made due to special anatomical structures in the oral cavity, when implantation is done in proximity to nerves or sinus cavities, and when implantation using the regular method might involve real risk.

Furthermore, the method is suitable for patients looking for a minimally invasive treatment method, as with the computerized method, the level of precision can reduce the surgical action involved in implantation. Computerized implantation is also suitable for patients who wish to enjoy a shorter recovery time.

Since this is a surgical procedure, computerized dental implantation may have certain side effects. However, it should be noted that these tend to be minimal due to the precision level that characterizes the computerized procedure. One possible side effect is swelling. Mild bleeding and some pain may also occur in the implantation area. The use of common pain relievers and applying ice provides significant relief.

If necessary, the doctor may recommend preventive antibiotics to prevent infection. Following the doctor's post-implantation instructions will help reduce the chance of side effects and accelerate recovery. It should be noted that significant complications such as nerve damage or improper placement of the implant in the jaw are considered very rare in the computerized implantation method.

Low-level diode laser therapy (LLLT) as performed at Savion Medical Center improves the healing process and contributes to faster recovery. The light energy is absorbed in the cell nucleus within the mitochondria (the cell's energy production center).

For those interested, we'll explain that this is the part responsible for energy production (at the cellular level). The light energy causes the release of a protein called CCO that is found within the cell's mitochondria. As a result of light absorption, mitochondrial activity increases. Three molecules are affected by this process:

ATP Molecule

This is the cell's main "fuel" molecule, providing energy for various processes occurring within it. The increase in mitochondrial activity due to laser treatment leads to increased production of ATP.

ROS Molecule

These are molecules containing oxygen that can react with other molecules in the cell. A balanced level of ROS helps the normal functioning of the cell, and in this aspect as well, the laser aids in healing.

Nitric Oxide (NO)

A molecule that serves as a chemical messenger in various processes in the body, such as regulating blood flow and communication between nerve cells. This is another complementary aspect of quality healing.

Since the laser light affects the delicate balance of these three molecules in the cell, there is an improvement in cellular function and natural healing processes. Exposing cells to light at the appropriate intensity and wavelength can aid in tissue regeneration, healing inflammation processes, and accelerating overall recovery.

In other words, laser energy causes the cell to work faster and more efficiently. Soft laser treatment (called biostimulation) and light therapy (called phototherapy) depend on wavelengths and the intensity of the energy radiated. We perform the process so that healing will be optimal.

Experience shows that this is a very effective treatment, and patients feel nothing during the procedure (this type of laser is neither painful nor burning). Soft laser treatment can be performed after any treatment for periodontal diseases or after a surgical procedure such as dental implantation.

Laser Pain Relief Treatment — After any surgical procedure, laser energy can be directed toward soft tissues to alleviate pain and reduce swelling. The mechanism works by absorbing energy into the cell and causing the production of the component we described earlier, ATP.

ATP is an organic substance that provides energy that helps not only with healing but also provides pain relief. It is a crucial component designed to enable essential processes in human cells, including natural healing. The laser treatment itself is not painful; patients feel nothing. Moreover, similar treatment can be used to relieve pain resulting from lip herpes, aphthae, or wounds in the oral cavity.

  • Easier and more comfortable treatment for the patient without the need for special preparation and usually saves chair time.
  • Treatment with a minimally invasive approach without incisions or sutures and faster healing.
  • More effective treatment because laser energy penetrates deep into the bone and kills bacteria.
  • Laser can be used for pain relief with quick return to routine.
  • Laser energy does not damage the tooth's cementum unlike conventional treatment (root scaling).
  • Complete control of bleeding during the procedure.
  • The method is especially suitable for anxious patients and those with dental phobia.
  • No contraindication for systemic patients (diabetes, hypertension, heart problems).
  • Advanced dentistry with better results.
  • Post-operative pain is minimal after treatment.
  • Encourages the patient to undergo additional treatment if necessary.

One of the most important things in computerized implantation is the need for proper and quality imaging. If insufficient resolution is chosen, it may make it difficult to prepare the optimal treatment plan. Additionally, the success of the procedure relies heavily on the skill level and experience of the dentist in interpreting the images and implementing a precise treatment plan.

Therefore, as patients, it is always important to be careful in choosing a dentist who is experienced in computerized implantation. Choose a dentist with an excellent reputation, one with whom you can discuss at length all the important issues before implantation so that you receive complete information for your peace of mind.

Recovery after computerized dental implantation is usually faster compared to other implantation methods, thanks to the minimally invasive nature of the implantation. Symptoms of swelling, bruising, or pain are usually less noticeable, and recovery from them is faster and easier.

To further facilitate and accelerate healing, it is important for patients to follow the doctor's instructions, maintaining careful but thorough oral hygiene during recovery, avoiding hard and sticky foods, and refraining from smoking, which interferes with healing.

During recovery, follow-up visits to the clinic should be made according to the doctor's instructions. In any case, it is important to contact the clinic if you experience troubling side effects and with any questions as needed.
